Browse through my web site and explore the magical art of silk painting. Some pieces are created in the early tradition of the Orient while others have been merged with modern techniques bringing it to a new dimension with free motion machine embroidery, collage and quilting. Initially inspiration for modern silk painting developed in France and spread through Europe and then into the United States and Canada. Because of my commitment to bring new vitality to an old art form, I teach in order to pass along the expertise I have gleaned through experimentation and exchange with students.

Silk has always been the fiber regarded as the queen of textiles that linked civilizations and commerce. It is lightweight, yet stronger than a comparable filament of steel. The fibers are triangular so reflect light and colour like prisms. It retains a sheen that makes it luxurious and sensuous to wear. These works have been prepared with ultimate care so that it can be enjoyed for many years.
