
| Bruce and Grey Branch of OGS encompasses the two Counties of Bruce and Grey, which are located in the most northerly area of southwestern Ontario. BGOGS' goal is to promote genealogical interest with special emphasis in Bruce and Grey Counties. With members from not only Bruce and Grey Counties, but all over the world, BGOGS is well known for its genealogical networking through meetings, informative newsletters, varied publications for sale and helpful query editors specializing in each county. The Bruce & Grey Branch of O. G. S. would like to extend the deepest sympathy to the family of Brenda Doyle, who passed away on April 19, 2010. Brenda was a long time member of BGOGS. For years she was in charge of the travelling library. In the last few years she has been our Grey County Research Person. Brenda was a tireless worker for our branch. She will be missed by all. 2010 BRUCE GREY BRANCH FAMILY STORY CONTEST: KEN YOUNG FAMILY STORY FOR GREY COUNTY AND BETTY WILSON FAMILY STORY FOR BRUCE COUNTY:
The Bruce & Grey Branch of O. G. S. is looking for the story of your ancestor or family in Bruce or Grey County for their second family story contest.
Eligibility: You must be a member of BGOGS.
Entry: Your story must be a previously unpublished work in essay form, 800 to 1500 words in length telling of the arrival, the life, or other interesting detail of your family in Bruce or Grey County. It must also include your name and contact information.
Deadline: Please submit your entry by e-mail to rdclark@sympatico.ca or by regular mail to BGOGS, Box 66, Owen Sound, Ontario, N4K 5P1 by July 31, 2010.
Judging: All entries will be reviewed by a panel of branch members selected by the Executive who will choose the most interesting and well presented stories to receive the awards.
The Award: The winners will receive a Certificate of Achievment and the Township CD of their choice. The winning stories will be published in the Branch Newsletter with the author retaining the copyright. The awards will be presented at the Bruce Grey Annual Fall Event in September 2010.

Join BGOGS on our trip to Salt Lake City Aug, 15-22, 2010. Check our Calendar of Events for the reservation form. A little information on what you can do once you get there. Family History Library: Monday 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Friday 8 a.m. to 9 P.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday closed. The collection includes over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records; 727, 000 microfiche, serials, and other formats; 4,500 periodicals; and 3,725 electronic resources. The Library has 142,000 square feet on 5 floors for patron reserach with: 314 patron computers, 408 microfilm readers, 36 Microfiche readers 14 book copiers, 4 microfilm scanners 28 microfilm & microfiche coopiers, Approximately 700 trained volunteers, 125 full and part time professional staff, Table seating for 375, Orientation and research classes, Wired Ethernet ports, Wireless Internet access. While there you can visit the Family Research Centre, listen to the Morman Tabernacle Choir rehearsal(Thursday)or go for a horse and buggy ride tour of Salt Lake City, visit a casino or shop at the Gateway plaza. Don't miss this once in a lifetime event.
