THE BODYTALK SYSTEM
* Designed as a system to help facilitate the natural healing
processes of the body.
* Views the body, not as a bundle of independent parts, but as a
single synchronized unit.
* Recognizes that the body has an "innate wisdom" - a built-in
mechanism that continuously encourages the healing process to minimize the
detrimental effects of injuries, illness, and daily stressors.
* BodyTalk is a global system currently being practiced in 37
countries and taught in eight languages.
* As a multi-disciplined, truly holistic approach BodyTalk reduces
healthcare costs while supporting and strengthening the standards of the
healthcare industry.

WHY DOES BODYTALK WORK
* BodyTalk is tailored to the individual to balance the unique aspects
that underlie their dis-ease.
* A Certified BodyTalk Practitioner trains to 'consult' the client's
innate wisdom to clarify what is really wrong with the individual, what
links need to the re-established to balance the bodymind complex, and most
importantly, in what order and at what causal level that is to say
performing according to each individual's priority.
* The portability of the BodyTalk techniques and ease of application
enables Practitioners to easily utilize this system whenever and wherever
they choose.
* BodyTalk is a stand-alone, complete healthcare program that can also
be seamlessly integrated into other systems to enhance their effectiveness.
* With BodyTalk, no diagnosis is given nor required, and no
medications are prescribed.  BodyTalk is safe, simple and non-invasive with
no contraindications for its use.

BENEFITS OF BODYTALK
The comprehensive protocol of The BodyTalk System balances and refines
biochemical and physiological functions, emotional and mental interactions,
environmental influences, hereditary and genetic restrictions underlying all
conditions of dis-ease and wellbeing.  Clinical experiences have verified
BodyTalk to be very effective when used to:
Clear:                     viruses, parasites, toxins, intolerances
Improve:               digestion, breathing, cellular hydration, brain
function, learning disorders, behaviour and general health

Hello All!

This update contains:

1. Letter from the Board of Directors
2. Kimbercote Update

**Please Note: The next update you receive will contain photographs and be more . . . . . lively.  For the time being, it is strictly news. If you no longer wish to be on this listserv, please reply with 'unsubscribe' in the subject line.**

1. Letter from the Board of Directors

Nov. 18, 2009

Dear Kimbercotians,

2009 stood out at Kimbercote in two significant ways – we celebrated our history and we planned for our future. The results were two gifts of great value:

·        Our successful 50th Anniversary weekend in June. Thanks to the planning committee and all of you who helped to create a truly memorable celebration of our past.

·        Production of a Strategic Plan of great significance for our future. Thank you for the intensive planning work with Kimbercote Board and Staff, facilitated by Mary Ferguson of Eko Nomos.

Our 3-year Strategic Plan has four Priorities to guide us:

·        Educational Programming, and Outreach

·        Resource Development, Business Planning, and Marketing

·        Governance

·        Infrastructure Development

Key successes for 2009 include:

·        Bathroom renovations, New staff house roof

·        $43,000 in granting funds secured (and more pending)

·        New on-site management

Next Steps for 2010:

·        New mattresses / beds and other amenities to increase comfort

·        Website and communication strategies

·        A full-time intern

As always, thank you for reflecting on the attached report from our management team.  Please contact us about anything you find intriguing – in the programming, or other elements of the Strategic Plan - and consider becoming involved as a volunteer, through a charitable donation, or membership

We are receiving marketing assistance from “Someone”, a Toronto-based marketing firm to create a visual identity / brand that is inclusive of our broad stakeholders. This work will result in a renewed website (www.kimbercote.org) and newsletter in Spring 2010, to reflect the vibrancy of Kimbercote.  The next newsletter you receive will include photographs and web-links.

Have a wonderful winter. Sincerely,

Stuart Coles, Founder and Board Member

Dorothy Remmer and Eleanor Pask, Co-Chairs

Michael Loebach, Treasurer

Other Members-at-Large

2. Kimbercote Update

Dear Friends and Members of Kimbercote,

Fall has stretched into a beautiful extended season, and as winter approaches, it is time for reflections. 2009 was highlighted by the 50th Anniversary Celebration: a time for reconnecting, celebrating, and moving forward. We thank the 50th committee and volunteers, the 80+ people who attended, and those who sent regrets. Everyone who contributed their memories and views has helped to shape Kimbercote’s future.

The Annual General Meeting reaffirmed our Board of Directors, with some changes of office: Eleanor Pask and Dorothy Remmer are Co-Chairs, Michael Loebach continues as Treasurer (and newsletter coordinator), Stuart Coles, Ivan Chan was re-affirmed as Secretary (though has recently decided to leave on an extended road-trip), and Mark Lewis, Jay Stiles and Dale Green continue as members.

Fall Work Weekend: 350

The annual fall Volunteer Weekend was once again a big success. We repaired the barn door with the help of dedicated volunteers, and installed a new fridge in the Centre, thanks to a donation from Home Depot. Katimavik joined in for an intensive habitat creation project on the landscape, guided by Sticks and Stones Wilderness School. On Saturday night, a group from Kimbercote joined in the International Day for Climate Action in Collingwood by walking with a group of 100 people, followed by a concert with the Nagata Shachu, a Taiko Drumming Ensemble. On Sunday we had a roasted a wild turkey feast.

Partnership with “Sticks and Stones Wilderness School

Sticks and Stones Wilderness School, led by Skeet Sutherland, is a business that develops and implements ecology-based land management practices. Skeet specializes in preserving skills that teach ecological wisdom and inspire community stewardship, and he is developing and implementing a land management plan for Kimbercote. Visit sticksandstoneswildernessschool.com to learn more about his program.

Partnership with Extend-a-Family

Kitchener-Waterloo Extend-a-Family (EAF) is a non-profit organization that is committed to enhancing the well-being of individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities and the families of those who care for them. We’ve partnered with EAF to deliver a 2-week summer camp program at Kimbercote. The biggest hit with the participants were the new resident chickens.

Marketing Initiative

Kimbercote’s logo is almost finished, thanks to feedback from participants at the 50th celebration and online, and to dedicated efforts from Someone, a professional design and marketing studio (www.someone.org). Work has begun on a new website to be launched in February 2010, and other marketing materials. The next newsletter will be a beaut!

KimberGarden Update: Vegetable Availability 2010, and community garden space

The KimberGarden will expand production next year in order to have produce available for sale. Specialty crops could include organic strawberries in spring, and garlic in fall. There are also private plots available within the garden space for local people to participate in a community garden.

Infrastructure Plan

2009 saw the completion of a comprehensive Infrastructure Plan, with funds from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This document prioritizes our infrastructure work. Next thing on the list: NEW MATTRESSES! Anyone interested in perusing the plan in full, please contact us.

Rural Development Officer (RDO) Program

Kimbercote has been approved by the Foundation for Rural Living to hire a full-time “Rural Development Officer” who will be involved in implementing our Infrastructure Plan, developing a Business and Fundraising Plan, and marketing. We look forward to the assistance with implementing Kimbercote’s Strategic Plan!

Adopt-a-Room Program

One of the RDO’s initiatives will be to coordinate the “Adopt-a-Room” Program. This program will assist long-term supporters and patrons of the Kimbercote Centre in becoming part of the infrastructural changes.

East Side Revitalization

In 2010, we will begin the revitalization of the East Kitchen and wing. This section will become available for smaller groups when the full house is not being used by large groups.  Details on these changes will be developed and communicated by the RDO early next year.

On-site update

Georgie, Alan, Emory & Sophia are settling in to life at Kimbercote, having taken on the position of On-Site Staff/Community Heartbeat in May of 2009. They have enjoyed a summer of delicious food from local farms, time at swimming holes and the company of local folks. They are currently working on revitalizing the East Side of the Conference Centre to present more rental opportunities, and are looking forward to the toboggan slopes for their first winter on-site.

Availability at Kimbercote

Book your next retreat now! Dates are still available in December – and March break hasn’t been booked yet!

The Planning Process

In 2009 we worked on planning for physical infrastructure, in order to maintain the space for use by groups to connect and rejuvenate. Our plans for 2010 will focus on Business Planning, Fundraising, and Marketing, to ensure the financial stability of the organization. These will work towards increasing partnerships and programming to serve an expanding Kimbercote community. We trust that you see yourselves as partners in this future.

Sincerely,

The KimberTeam
