Concise News Item 13:

If we were not so single minded about keeping our lives moving, and for once could do nothing, perhaps a huge silence might interrupt this sadness of never understanding ourselves and of threatening ourselves with death.

Perhaps the earth can teach us as when everything seems to be dead in winter and later proves to be alive

From Pablo Neruda, following the 1973 coup in Chile

To stop our incessant, busy activities, in order to listen to the internal chatter of our own mind may not seem to lead anywhere.  But by listening to our own breath, that chatter eventually stops and silence ensues:  it is the true rest before another bout of life.
