Mary Munshaw, the original
owner of this property,
sold it in 1892 to George
Mitchell, a banker who
soon thereafter built
the house. The building
was bought from the George
Mitchell estate by the
Canadian Legion, Branch
333, in 1946. The building
now houses the Flesherton
Public Library.
The two and a half story
building was built around
1892, just after the High
Victorian Period. There
is a large brick addition
on the back of the building,
and at the side is a three
window semi-hexagonal
bay.
Under the largest gable
is a three window bay
recessed into the wall.
The gable itself is decorated
with fancy trim.
Below the bay and gable
is a large picture window,
which is joined to a half
rounded picture window,
made of small square pieces.
The double window feature
seems to be typical of
the Flesherton area alone.
The brickwork is mainly
monochromatic, although
a few decorative white
bricks are used around
the windows.
