Presented by our local Victim-Services, Preventing Elder Abuse, a workshop event including keynote speaker, Judith Wahl, Executive Director at the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly.

Peace & Justice Grey Bruce, with the support of a number of our local Bruce Grey Owen Sound riding associations, is having a free Public Forum, Our Canada: Conversations in Domocracy. Peter Russell, a well-known expert on Canadian Constitutional law, will be the opening speaker for the forum and will help frame the questions we need to ask ourselves. There will be a 2nd annual Our Dreams Matter Too walk for culturally based equity for First Nations children. Our Dreams Matter Too is a walk and letter writing event supporting First Nations children to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy, and proud of their cultures. There were over 50 Our Dreams Matter Too walks across Canada last year, including ours in Owen Sound. Details to follow.

Come join a Annual Aboriginal Day Event in Owen Sound. Its focus will be music, traditional food and activities for families and Elders. The organizers hope to offer cultural and traditional workshops and demonstrations. This event will be free and by donation. Dare to Stand Out Conferences: The National Summit for LGBTQ-A* Service Providers. This summit will mark the first time that LGBTQ-A* Service Providers will be able to meet together to discuss a national vision for our community in Canada. The cost of participation is FREE. NOTES & FOLLOW-UP:

 

In order to deal with "dis-information" that is floating around the SON-MNR Fish Agreement, a member has provided us with a copy of the Agreement along with a fact sheet on some details.

 

TVO and the quality programs it produces are coming under the knife of funding cuts. Sign a petition if you wish to support it.

 

Dr. Abuelaish’s has spoken in Owen Sound a number of times. Show your support for his inspiring work and place your vote for him as one of the top immigrants to Canada.

 

Bring Food Home 2013: Building Bridges Together will be held on November 17-19, in Windsor. This is Ontario’s biennial conference connecting organizations working towards a sustainable food system. They are currently looking for proposals! If you are interested in presenting a workshop at Bring Food Home 2013, please visit the website.
