Gregory J. Levine

BIO


Greg Levine is a semi-retired lawyer practicing in Ontario. He is a member of the Law Societies of Upper Canada (Ontario) and British Columbia. He has an LL.B. from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in cultural geography from Queen`s University.

Greg Levine`s practice focuses on government ethics law, municipal law and administrative law. Formerly an Integrity Commissioner for six Ontario municipalities he now advises and consults on ethics matters on a case by case and select basis. Similarly, having been a solicitor in a municipal legal department as well as a counsel to provincial, municipal and university ombudsmen, he offers advisory services in municipal law also on a case by case and select basis.

Greg Levine has strong legal research and legal and policy analysis skills. He has for several years updated, revised and edited Rogers Law of Canadian Municipal Corporations and Rogers and Butler Canadian Law of Planning and Zoning. He is the author of numerous articles in the area of government ethics law as well as three government ethics law related books including The Law of Government Ethics: Federal, Ontario and British Columbia 2nd Edition (Carswell/Canada Law Book, 2015), Ombudsman Legislation in Canada: an Annotation and Appraisal (Carswell:, 2012), and Municipal Ethics Regimes 2nd Edition (Municipal World, 2018).

Greg Levine has been a member of the Canadian Academy of Independent Scholars and has social science research interests in geography of law, religion and law and the geography of religion more broadly.
