What's the deal with people giving up their elderly animals? My dog is thirteen years old and I would kill for thirteen more years with her. Seeing that eleven year old lab broke my heart and then hearing the
owners say they were going to leave him with us made me ill. I am so glad that the Owen Sound Animal Shelter has a reputation for being a safe place for bringing pets of any age. If there is anyone who will be able to find them a home it's Renee and Todd! Sandi S

Hi Renee/Todd! I just wanted to say that I have your read daily blogs and visit your site regularly. Those "owners" or "irresponsible people" as they should be really called who just drop a dog or cat at your shelter and take no responsibility, should be held accountable for their actions.
This is also just as cruel as hitting or hurting an animal. Those people should pay a major fine, serve a long community service and be banned from owning an animal for the rest of their lives. I adopted J.J. (O.J.) from your shelter two years ago and would never even think of abandoning my cats or just dropping them off at a shelter (without taking responsibility) if I couldn't look after them. I hope that is within your power to have those owners charged. I am a member of the OSPCA and it really disgusts me how some people treat the dogs and cats that they get. We need stricter rules regarding someone who wished to adopt a pet and make sure that person is responsible and can afford to look after their animal.
Thank you for the wonderful work you, Todd and the rest of the OSAS are doing. Take care, Anne :) Tigger & J.J.
