The next day I felt a lot more homesick. It was still early in the morning when no one was up but Mogul and me. My shoulder still ached from the bullet but I felt a lot better. Mogul, who was standing beside me, looked a lot better too. His cuts and burns had bandages on them. So I lay there for a few minutes thinking about last night, wondering if Mr. Kehoe had gotten away. Then something occurred to me. I wanted to see my pa very much, but I also wanted to stay with Mogul. I sat there thinking of what I could do.

Then I thought of a plan. I didn't know if it would work, but it would have to. I would get up, ride Mogul to the nearest harbour . . . then what? Get a ride on one of the boats? It was worth a try. So I got to my feet, climbed onto Mogul's back, and started off across the field to the road that Mr. Kehoe and his men had escaped by.

Ten minutes later I was starting to wonder if there was any life on this island, but my question was answered when I rounded a corner and there was a small harbour. The harbour was deserted other than one small boat that was preparing to leave.

I got off Mogul and walked over to the man that looked like he was in charge. I asked, "Do you think that me and my elephant could have a ride on your boat?"

The man said, "I guess so," then he started to turn around, then stopped: "You and your what?"

I calmed him down and begged a little bit, then he finally agreed. So after a few arrangements, Mogul and I were heading home to New Brunswick.

About a day later we were back in New Brunswick. I couldn't wait to see my pa again. I rode Mogul down the familiar road to the small house Pa and I had built. When the house came into view it was on fire.

House on Fire

I let out a cry of surprise, then stood there frozen with fear. Mogul trumpeted loudly. I ran towards the house, not even thinking of my own safety, thinking only of my father. Mogul picked me up with his trunk to stop me.

"Put me down, Mogul!" I protested loudly. I was sobbing. Then I saw the most amazing sight. Mogul stampeded toward the satanic inferno of fire. He grabbed my father from the flames and set him on the ground, but then the house collapsed on Mogul and he died instantly. "Thank you, Mogul, you sacrificed your life to save my Father." I sobbed quietly by myself.

Doctor

Four hours later, Selena gets a doctor on the island. The doctor heals my wounds while he was taking care of me. Afterwards, a ship comes to the island to bring the passengers on the Royal Tar to safety. After my pa meets Selena again, and they like each other so they get married. One year later, they (my pa and Selena) had a little girl. After, Mogul helps move hay for my family. Later on, Mogul becomes our pet and our good friend. My family and I go across the world with the circus to China for my parents' honeymoon with a new boat called the China Schooner.

China Schooner

When we arrived in China, we found Mr. Kehoe stealing valuable diamonds and when he was about to run away he ran into Selena. Selena called the police and she reported his crime. Mr. Kehoe got his head cut off by the Chinese judges' laws for his crime and for killing most of the passengers on the Royal Tar.

Horse

While my dad was looking for a horse, the grand prize horse had been stolen by Skipper (one of Mr. Kehoe's men). My dad was accused of stealing the horse because his fingerprints were found around the owner's stable. My dad was put in jail while Mogul tried to break in but 10 guards took him on and after 4 hours, they took Mogul to the ground. After, my pa was taken to court and Mr. Fuller's circus tricked the judge by disguising the grand prize horse and putting it in Skipper's cabin. That proved my pa was innocent.

After, my family moves to China and the circus leaves us and travels the world. Every year, the circus comes around the world to China to visit our family for at least 2 weeks or so.

Elephant

The next day Selena put a sling on my arm to make it better. Then Mogul, Selena, Mr. Fuller and I went for a walk down to the nice blue ocean. "Oh, look, there's Mr. Kehoe's hat over by the abandoned beaver dam," I said. Then we ran over to the hat and threw it in the ocean.

After our lunch I brought up that if Mogul caught Mr. Kehoe, he would surely be dead! But then Mogul covered his head, like he did something wrong. I asked him what was wrong but he turned his back on me.

The next day Selena woke up by the loud sound of a steamboat. All of a sudden the police came and asked if Selena saw Mr. Kehoe. She replied, "No, but my friends and I found his hat."

Mr. Kehoe and Bear

Then about five minutes later all we heard was a very loud scream. We ran over to the yelling and it was Mr. Kehoe--he was being attacked by a huge kodiak bear. The police started shooting the bear with their guns, and the bear died. Everybody left. They brought Mr. Kehoe to the dock and put him on a boat to go to Maine, U.S.A.

While they were travelling with Mr. Kehoe, he died while being bandaged. They had a short moment of silence for him and then dumped him into the sea. After they dumped him, they continued on their way to Maine.

Selena and I brought Mogul to the fisherman's boat and all of us got on to the boat to go back to St. John. We kept Mogul and now Selena lives with my dad and I in our new house.

Elephant Stomping Mr. Kehoe

As Mogul gained speed on Mr. Kehoe, he trembled closer. Mogul tried to stomp on him but missed by inches! He tried once more and just nicked his shoe. In desperation, Mr. Kehoe tried to get away but the elephant crushed him!!! All of a sudden you could hear a terrifying scream with the crushing of bones!!

Mr. Kehoe--Stomped!

Back at the barn the boy was slowly falling asleep as Selena was gently rubbing his head with a cool cloth. In the distance, Commander Reed could see the rest of Mr. Kehoe's men paddling away in terror as Mogul was trumpeting fiercely on shore. Commander Reed looked back at the boy. He could tell that the boy was recovering form his gunshot wound on his shoulder.

Nobody knows what happened to Kehoe's men, but some say that they joined Mr. Kehoe and his misery. The boy survived and is safe with his Pa. He took the steamer called the S.S. Sea Snake with Mogul on board back to St. John, New Brunswick. Mogul and the boy had equal chores back at home. Mogul's chores were to haul 100 pounds of hay per load!!!

Mogul and the boy stayed together for the rest of their days. As for Selena, her circus became the greatest show on earth. Every once in a while the boy would join Selena to add some spice to her amazing world-wide circus performance.
