If you have ever gone to a health store yourself for supplements,
you will understand why nutrient dense food costs more. When
producing nutrient dense food, the soil, the plants and the
livestock are being fed those same supplements so that YOU can look
to your food to provide you with what you need! This is traditional
nutrition.
Traditional Foods farmers are using GMO free inputs and Bio-Ag
balanced rations to enhance the health of living systems.
Over the last 50 years, the amounts of protein, calcium, phosphorus,
iron, riboflavin and vitamin C in conventionally grown fresh fruits
and vegetables have declined significantly. As an example, consider
the calcium in broccoli - widely grown varieties in 1950 had about
13 mg/g of calcium, but today’s varieties provide only about 4.4
mg/g of calcium. And check out corn, below!
Conventionally grown cornmeal contains significantly fewer
nutrients than an heirloom variety.

The health consequences of dietary
deficiencies, such as increased cancer and accelerated aging, need
to be taken far more seriously and this is what Traditional Foods
farmers are doing. They are also raising animals on pasture to
produce nutrient dense products that are consistently richer in
vitamins A, D and E, beta-carotene and beneficial fatty acids.
