Welcome to the web site of: DAVID Hamilton Press "Esc" to shut off music
This site is dedicated to those who love steam locomotives. How many people have wondered what it would be like to take the controls of a real, working, steam locomotive. This site is here to say……... IT CAN BE DONE! Many heritage railways in the U.K offer courses on driving and firing of live steam locomotives. See the link to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
An alternative that many resort to, is miniature locomotives. O.S. Engines, in Japan, provide a number of fine locomotives from 3-1/2" gauge to 7-1/2" gauge. Most are available in fully machined kits, or ready to run.
Gauge one, 45mm between the rails, is the preferred gauge for those with limited space and financial resources. Many companies sell gauge one engines ready to run, out of the box. And kits are also available. For those with the tools or desire to do so, scratch building is also an option in any gauge or scale. Follow the links at the StiG, Steam in the Garden Magazine web site for the wealth of available information! Marc Horovitz at Side Street Banner Works, has produced some excellent videos on gauge one locomotives and railways.
ON THIS SITE YOU WILL FIND: THIS PAGE: Photos of some locomotives. NEXT PAGE: A brief history of the original ROCKET. THIRD PAGE: Our private 4-3/4" gauge railway.
