Maxine was my Dream Beardie. She represented the sixth generation of our breeding program and when she entered the world, I knew she was special.
Maxine was slow maturing but developed into my ideal Beardie type. She had a strong head, melting expression, length from rib,substance (she loved her food), strong forechest (other girls were jealous), and effortless, floating movement. In limited showing, primarily at specialties, Max touched breeder-judges and compiled
an impressive array of wins:
- BPISS at a 1998 BCCC specialty under L. Mills;
- finishing her AKC championship going BW at the NCBCC (C. Moorhead), GLBCC (M. Betts) specialities and Old Dominion (2001-2002);
- BOS at NCBCC (S. O’Brien), GLBCC (A. Richardson), BCCC (J. Lewis); and, as a veteran, BISS under J. Osborne and BVISS (C. Reinheimer).
- At all other specialities, except one, she earned AOM/Select awards.
- She was also a great mom producing champion, obedience, herding and agility titled kids.
Max made her mark by touching people deeply. She was a registered therapy dog and had an innate sense of knowing when she was needed. When I had a health crisis, she helped get me out doing something. My angel did have a d’arque side. She was
affectionately called ‘the princess’ because she would pick and choose what she wanted to do and what she would forgive. She readily forgave my show-handling faux pas but would pout over my herding errors. Regardless, she was my heart dog. Her last gift
was knowing she was needed at the Bridge to welcome Merv. |
