Introduction to Sheiling Bearded Collies

Welcome to our renewed website. Thanks to Lois Gaspar for all her work on rebuilding the site. We hope to introduce you to the lives and love we share with our Bearded Collies and to capture some of our long history with the breed.

Our involvement with the breed has brought us long-time friendships and extended family around the world. We’ve owned, bred and co-bred over 50 US, Canadian and Australian champions. Our dogs have been titled in agility, obedience and herding with many achieving versatility awards. Our dogs have served as foundations for others’ breeding programs. We have also been privileged to have friends return to us for new family members over generations. Merv and I have both judged beardies and served as mentors and judge educators for the BCCA since the inception of the program.

We now live near Chatsworth, Ontario on a country property with lots of room for the dogs to run, close to trails for hiking. Our family consists of our son, the beardies and our token cat. Sadly, my partner and best friend, Merv, passed away suddenly, before his time, in November 2010. Merv was the brains and energy behind our early success. I miss him everyday but know he watches over us with Corrie and Maxine at his side. This website is dedicated to his memory.

Merv Perry, April 2010

 He is gone
You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back or you can open your eyes and see all he's left
Your heart can be empty because you cannot see him or you can be full of the love you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he's gone or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and lose your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on
