Featuring : Spiders Spider Facts Spiders are members of a class of animals called arachnids, which also includes scorpions, mites, sun or wind spiders, and harvestmen ( or daddy long legs ). Of them all, the spiders which belong to the order Araneida are the largest group. There are about 35,000 known species in the world. |
The body of the spider is divided into prosoma and opisthosoma, The other main parts of its anatomy are: four pairs of legs, the pedipalps, the chelicerae, the simple eyes, and the spinnerets. The chelicerae are two small appendages found at either side of the mouth. Each ends in a hollow fang. Almost all spiders inject poison through these fangs. |
